Inhumans to become TV series

Originally planned as a movie, Marvel announced yesterday that Inhumans is now going to make the jump to television instead.

Inhumans was initially going to be released in november 2018 and the pushed back to 2019 as part of Phase 4 of the MCU.

The show will debut in IMAX theatres running for two weeks, showing episodes one and two, this is the first time a TV show as been aired in this way. After the two week IMAX run the show will make the move to ABC, the same channel that airs Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,  for it’s weekly slot.

Ben Sherwood, co-chairman of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney/ABC Television Group said the following o the upcoming show in a statement:

“This unprecedented alliance represents a bold, innovative approach to launching great TV content for a worldwide audience. It highlights Disney/ABC’s unrelenting commitment to finding new and creative ways to showcase out very best programming and increasing global engagement and reach.”

IMAX are also pushing their weight to help get the show off to a running start according to a statement made by Rich Gelfond, IMAX CEO:

“The first of its kind multi-platform production, distribution and marketing agreement brings together Marvel Television’s unique brand of entertainment, ABC’s unparalleled audience and IMAX’s brand and global fanboy demographic. It also takes our decades long relationship with The Walt Disney Company to a whole new level, jointly breaking new ground in the industry. We are confident our exhibition partners will be excited to work with us on this innovative launch of a series across the IMAX network.”
