Prometheus 2 gets another title change

Alien: Covenant

Yes it’s true Alien: Covenant is the new title for Sir Ridley Scott’s next foray into sci fi. As you can see the artwork is incredibly reminiscent of the original Alien, one of my all time favourite films.

Back in September Prometheus 2 had a title change to Alien: Paradise Lost. I like the implications of the new title, paradise lost conjures up connotations of mans downfall at divine hands whereas covenant, to me at least, implies that humans will be complicit in their own undoing.

The official plot summary has also been revealed.

“Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

So? No Dr Shaw?

Although not much else is know about Alien: Covenant the more that trickles out the more intrigued I am by it. Here’s hoping it will wash the bitter taste Prometheus left in my mouth.
